ICN Victoria auspiced a Victorian Government sponsored aviation trade mission to attend India Aviation, held at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, India on 15 to 18 October 2008.
Six companies participated in the trade mission with the interests of a further twelve Victorian companies represented by the mission delegation and the Victorian Government Business Office – Bangalore. The delegation undertook a meeting with Mr Praful Patel, Minister of Civil Aviation to discuss the developments in the Indian aviation sector and to issue an invitation on behalf of the Victorian Government for Mr Patel to attend the Avalon Airshow in 2009.
Attendances at the India Aviation 2008 air show were estimated by organisers to be 30,000 per day during the week, with approximately 200,000 on the Saturday.
The mission commenced in Hyderabad with attendance and a display stand at the air show, followed by arranged industry meetings in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore. The arranged meetings were in the targeted sectors of aviation, infrastructure construction and education & training, and included the following companies:
- Air India
- Kingfisher Airlines
- Jet Airways
- Airworks India
- Mahindra Ltd
- Akruti City Ltd
- Maytas Infrastructure
